Lo siento!! (I am sorry!) It's been 15 days, and I haven't blogged one single time. It's not excusable, but I must give a small plea. We stay in a steady run here. Although it's rare, when we get a minute to crash, we crash!!
Thanks for your prayers. Our schedule is a mad rush, but it has gotten somewhat better. The traffic is still quite horrible (especially across town and back) to our San Isidro classes, but God has granted us a week without classes so that we can breathe; the office is being using by our cluster leader for meetings. We absolutely love teaching and studying with the students and the classes (THEY are the BEST!!), but the detail stuff--the lesson planning, getting copies made, and the traveling to and fro do take up a lot of time. It can be difficult juggling our evening life with our family life (homework, dinner time, bedtime, etc.). Continue to pray for transitions.
Please continue praying for our ESL students and translators. Although many do know Christ as their Savior, they do need many questions answered. They need us to disciple them. Pray for us as we mentor them and try to answer those questions. Pray for those who are questioning what a relationship with Christ is & looks like, and that they may meet HIM face to face. Pray for us to model Jesus in everything we say and do.
Thanks for your prayers for Brian and us over the past few days. Brian safely returned from a small research trip to Canta. While there, he came up on the tail-end of a mudslide. He was quite amazed at the amount of dirt, water, and rock that came off of the mountain in such a short period of time. He says it came down in "one swoop." It's amazing at the rain there and the lack of it 3 hours away (here).
Since we have the week free from classes, we leave tomorrow journeying to Huaraz, which is an 8-hour trip away to the snow-capped mountains. We are taking a bus to get there. Pray for our bus drivers, the buses, and us to have safe trips and good health!! We will be staying with a M from Mississippi, Tommy Smith. We will begin our return Saturday night and will arrive in Lima Sunday morning.
Next Tuesday, my mom will finally find out the results to her biopsies, which you've been praying about. Continue to pray for good results!!
Pray for peace, love, joy, and comfort for my sister-in-law (Brian's brother's wife), our nieces, and their family. They've lost her grandma this week, after several weeks of illness.
Next Monday, our Association M Director (Jimmy Holcomb) and ABC's Equipping Pastor (Mark Williams) will be traveling to Lima!!!! They and B. will be leaving next Tues. to the jungle. They will be in the jungle through the following Saturday. Pray for them as they will be visiting several unreached people groups; pray that God will show them which group(s) that He may be wanting them to adopt, so that they may bring churches back from Mississippi to share the Gospel. Pray for health and safety in their travels. Pray for their families that they are leaving behind as they travel.
As you get ready to celebrate this weekend with Easter bunnies, chocolate Cadbury eggs, boiled eggs, and such, please let us not forget our SAVIOR. God sent Jesus Christ to die for our sins. His blood washes away our sins. If we will ask, He will forgive. If we will give Him ourselves, He will grant us a wonderful relationship with HIM. He will change our lives forever. He has changed my life!!! He has taken the shackles away! Not only did He die for me, He rose again after 3 days. He made many appearances to show witness that HE LIVES!!! He ascended into the sky, and lives with our FATHER in heaven. Hallelujah!! HE LIVES!!!!
Let's thank Him for the ultimate sacrifice that He gave for you and me!!! If you do not know Him and you feel Him tugging at your heart (Behold, I stand at the door and knock~Rev.3:20 ), don't let today go by without asking HIm for forgiveness and to be your Savior. Today (RIGHT NOW!) could be your last chance!! (Read Romans 10:9-10; 10: 13 from the Holy Bible ). The GIFT is yours for you to take, but YOU have to make the choice to accept it.
May you have a blessed Easter weekend!!

I have battled stomach issues 3 or more MAJOR times since I've been here in Lima. I've heard it called the "Lima Stomach." I've heard it said that one must grow immune to the bacterias on foods and in the water here. I take extra precautions to clean our veggies and fruits in bleach and in another solution that I buy at Plaza Vea. Our water is filtered. Diarrhea is not usually something I talk about. Usually, I would rather hide than talk about such. Living the life of a M, "D." has almost become my middle name. Normally, my stomach is tough. I am wondering if it is a plain ole case of Spiritual Warfare. This past case kept me down for 3 solid days/nights!! Even when I wasn't in the bathroom, you could hear my guts churning, NO, SCREAMING. The first night and day, I had severe stomach cramps. NOT FUN!! I am unashamedly saying all this to point out that we, especially I, need prayer!!! Please pray for healthy stomachs....and that NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST US MAY PROSPER, IN JESUS' NAME!!
Ok, now for something a little less embarrassing (maybe??) and made a good laugh for us. This morning, B. went to our front bathroom (guest bathroom). He noticed there was a little water on the floor behind the toilet. He reached down to touch the hose, and it literally EXPLODED. All the children and I could hear was a GUSHHHHHHHHH of water. It filled the tiny bathroom in seconds. Thankfully, B. turned the water off, and began to mop up. We happened to be going out the door to take the kids to school. Again, thankfully, we only have concrete and tile in the bathroom, so no worries.
When we returned home, he was going to try to change the hose, but it BROKE off into the wall, with very little effort in making it break! He called the office to see what the procedure was for such an emergency, and was told they'd call the plumber that our M uses. We were not sure when the person would come. In CR, when we had a problem, it usually took days to get appliances worked on or fixed. Not long after the call, our doorbell rang, and it was the plumber!! In our limited Spanish and use of many gestures, he discovered our problem, and went to work. The hose he'd brought with him was too small, so he had to leave to go buy another one. He returned soon after, and finished promptly, and noticeably, when he CLOSED AND LOCKED THE BATHROOM DOOR. We both were sitting in the room beside him. I was working on lesson plans, and B. was working on a term paper. My mouth dropped open, and I had to hold back a hearty laugh. B.'s eyes grew wide, and after SEVERAL minutes, the plumber flushed twice, washed his hands, and came out whistling. Not only did he fix our toilet, he also tested it and approved its safe use. :) B. paid him, and he left, and we had a good laugh as he left the building. TALKING ABOUT SERVICE!!!!!..... AND, SERVICE WITH A SMILE!!!!

After a stressful week last week, we have started anew. The kids' and our schedules are hectic. Our days and evenings are full. Since Peruvian schools have started back in March, the traffic is even busier than we imagined, so that also added to the stress. It sometimes seems like all 8 million people are on the streets at the same time.
Last week, every night was full, so the kids grew tired and grouchy. By the end of the week, when B. left for the jungle with our supervisor, I felt a little overwhelmed. Trying to juggle meetings with lesson plans, and our classes with the kids' homework, dinner, and baths was a little bewildering. B. left early Thurs. I had the truck (which is a stick shift), and I got to experience driving the kids over the mountain to school and back in the morning and again in the afternoon. Thank God that He was my pilot, and I surrendered to being copilot.
We'd asked you to pray about Sk.'s swimming lessons. He and Sy. have lessons every Tues. and Thurs., and last week, the lessons began. Thankfully, since he does get a P.E. grade for his lessons, he is experimenting with the water quite well. Thanks for your prayers. Sy. was all excited about the lessons, and after one day in the pool, with her male instructor (who happens to wear a Speedo), she decided she was NOT doing that again. After 2 more days of spankings and temper tantrums with her, she still would rather a severe scolding than trying the pool out. Pray for patience and understanding on our part, and continue to pray for them for the changes that they are encountering here.
B.'s trip went well. They ended up not spending the night, but drove straight back. They took turns driving, which totaled around 16 hours there and back. They visited a village by the Perene River. To get to the village, they had to park the truck, and cross over on a makeshift cable trolley, which was hand-operated. There are 2 Christians, Enrique and Rosa, in the whole village. The others do not believe in anything. While there to ask the chief permission for doing ministry, they were welcomed into the home of Enrique. The family was celebrating their son's birthday, and they were offered dinner, which was cooked on the ground in coals. They had chicken, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, and beans called habas. The trip was successful with permission being granted for ministry, and they made it back home a little before midnight on Thurs. Pray for these villagers hearts to be opened for repentance and acceptance, and for those that will be coming to share the Good News boldly and well. Pray for the 2 Christians that are there, to be encouraged and strengthened, and to be willing to share with others!
Meanwhile, Thurs. night, I arrived at the school (on our side of town) to teach ESL and a Bible lesson, and the classroom had no chairs. I discovered that it was the school's open house, and all the chairs were being used in the auditorium. After I set up our projector and laptop for our lesson, a sweet student arrived and threw out some gymnastics' mats for everyone to sit on, and I was told that the stand (that I was using for the projector and laptop) was needed in the auditorium! Thankfully, out of no where, people began to bring in chairs for the students and a table (for a makeshift stand). The devil likes to use such opportunities of our weakness to make us crumble. God showed him who was in control though! Toward the end of the class, the parents gathered outside of the doors and windows and peered in, watching and listening to our English class.Pray for those that are in need of a Savior who heard to give our class a try!
After a stressful week, we have started anew. Pray for us to be lights for the world to see. Pray for us to ALWAYS represent Him in the way we speak, think, and act, even when we do face challenges and struggles. After all, HE IS IN CONTROL.
Pray for my sweet mom, Pearlean, as she goes for her second round of biopsies on Wednesday (tomorrow) around 1-1:30, on her thyroid gland. She says her neck is still sore from last week's round. Her thyroid is 1 1/2 times the size it should be. Two years ago, she had a goiter and one gland removed. Now, she has nodules in the remaining gland.Pray for good results, and for the procedure to go smoothly.
Thanks for all of your prayers! God bless you!!
