The past two weeks have been busier than ever! The week of the 15th was our first week of teaching our ESL classes at night (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays), of which 2 are located across town. Then, we teach on Saturdays, too. Last week, Sk. & Sy. started school, so we had to get adjusted to their schedules + ours! Thankfully, we carpool with our supervisors, so we make only one trip across the mountain each day to their school. They go to a Christian school for people of our trade. There's about 30 or so students that attend the school. Sy. had 3 other students in her class, and Sk. has 9, which is a combination of 3rd and 4th graders.
Sk. is a tad behind in math from his previous school, so he is being worked with one-on-one to catch him up. Sy. only attends school on M., W., and F.'s, so this gives her an opportunity to rest up a little on Tu. & Th.'s after our later nights of teaching. They both have AWANAS on Friday at the end of the school day, of which they dearly enjoy!
Sk. spent 25 hours at our church at a lock-in camp for ages 7-12. He has a blast. Soccer, playing in a shallow pool, Bible studies, fun and fellowship with new friends.
Our ESL students and translators are a joy to teach. They hunger for English and many hunger for the word of God. They come from a variety of denominations and types of religions. Please pray that we will disciple them according to God's will, and that they will grow closer in their relationship to God each day. Pray for those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior to have their eyes and hearts opened up to hear and receive and accept HIM for who He is.
This week, Sk. and Sy. will start swimming lessons on Tu. & Th.'s as part of their curriculum at their school. We'll be taking Sy. in the afternoons so that she can join the fun. Sk. is VERY nervous about swimming, so please pray that his nerves will be eased before he has to learn.
Arturo's, one of our ESL students/translators, father passed away Saturday. Please pray for him and his family as they go through this loss and for the changes to come in their lives because of his death. Pray for them to seek God and let HIM guide their lives.
B. will be leaving early Th. morning to go on a short overnight trip with Jeff (our supervisor). Pray for their safety and health as they travel. Also, pray for his family and us as we stay behind, traveling to and from the kids' school and to ESL class on Th. night.
Pray for us as a family--to not let our fast-paced schedule hinder our daily walk with HIM, to get good rest and have good attitudes toward each other daily, for the kids to be obedient to us, and for each of us to represent Christ in our attitudes, thoughts, and speech.
Pray for our REAP North team. Don't forget to check out our link (on People We Know) for specific prayers!
Pray for the people of Chile. There are so many dead and so much destruction there. Pray for the teams that will be sent out to minister to them.
Sounds like you guys are doing a great job! Glad to know things are going well. The Attaways say, "Hi"!
