Can I Freeze Time?

There's never enough time. We never seem to catch up with everything that is going on. Sometimes I wish I could freeze time and try to catch up on everything that needs to be completed!

Think of time running out for those who will receive God's free gift of salvation. Are we doing our job? Are we telling as many people as possible? Today could be our last day to share the Good News with our friends, loved ones, or others who need Christ!

Lord, help us all slow down and focus on You. Help us to be strong and full of courage and be willing to go out and share your love and salvation to others.

The clock is ticking...  We are running out of time!!

Recuperation Saturday

This week has been busy. I don't think there has been a slow moment. I haven't even had much time to use my computer, which is a first for me. I have loads of papers that I need to grade, lesson plans to do, and the house is a bomb.  We all have had the sinus junk that is going around. I finally got to sleep in. I think I slept over 13 hours. I still felt tired when I woke up!!!  Later, Sy. and I took other 2 1/2 hour nap. Finally, I feel a little awake. 

B. is about to take a test online for one of his classes. I haven't accomplished much today except for sleep. My papers and plans are still waiting, and the house is still a mess.

I have really gotten involved with my students this year. I have really grown close to them. When they have problems, they tell me. It is great to know that they trust me enough to confide in me. They all are precious to me, but there are a few that stay on my heart and mind ALL the time. I do not doubt that God has given me the privilege of having them as my "own" this year so that I can love on them and pray for them! I have participated in activities with them that BEFORE I'd felt embarrassed to do. Bro. Neil has been talking about getting out of our comfort zones...doing things that may be a little undignified to us, all for sharing the love of God with others...doing it all for His glory! Some of my peers think that I have "lost my marbles." I have run races with my students, brought Sk.'s light saber to entertain the students, and I have even played touch football with my them.  You may wonder how this can be undignified. I have never had an athletic bone in my body, but I keep putting myself on the line to play with the kids...to show them that I love them. 

Please pray God's will in the our lives and for me to continue to shine a BRIGHT light to others around me. Get out there, get a little undignified, step out of our comfort zones--ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!!

See Ya at the Pole!

Today, we had a guest speaker come present for us at See Ya at the Pole, which is a day designated for prayer, which is voluntary for our students to participate in. Joshua Ivey did a fabulous job of talking and singing to our students. He talked about how we all have "rainy  days" from time to time, and how our God will take us through those days. How true that is....

Sometimes, we can portray to others that we are tough on the outside, but on the inside we are soft, frail, and ready to crumble. As followers of Jesus we need to keep an observant eye and be ready to love on others as they are having  these"rainy days." WWJD?!

A Great Day

Yesterday was a great day! The kids were well-behaved, everything flowed smoothly, and our grandparent's celebration went well. We had almost 600 people at our event last night!!!  WOW!! We ended our day with many of the staff at a local restaurant. It was a night of fun!  It is so wonderful that everyone chooses to work as a team to accomplish much. I bet Jesus wishes the same each day about all Christians working as a team to establish his kingdom!!

This morning, David's prayer stood out to me in 1 Chronicles 29:10-13--

Praise be to you, O LORD,

God of our father Israel,

from everlasting to everlasting.

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power

and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,

for everything in heaven and earth is yours.

Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;

you are exalted as head over all.

In  your hands are strength and power

Today was definitely a Monday. The kids at school were wired, and I was not!!! I felt under the weather most of the day. I did make myself go exercise after school. I am proud of myself for doing that.  As soon as I got our babies, I collected B., and we headed back to the school to help decorate for tomorrow night's grandparent's celebration. We haven't been home long!

My devotional this morning had a quote from Elisabeth Elliot, which is quite phenomenal:

"It is God to whom and with whom we travel, and while He is the End of our journey, He is also at every stopping place."

Our Application

Today, we received the envelope that we have been looking for...the news from the company that we applied to. B. shakingly opened the envelope, and we plopped down to read it together. We HAVE been invited to go to an interview at the conference in November!!! They will pay all expenses to our conference destination.

I had made plans to go see some of my students' pee wee football game, so I had to leave immediately after we read it.  My stomach was in knots. As Sy. and I took off, the song "I'm Letting Go" came on. If you haven't heard this, you need to. This song has spoken multitudes to me in a previous setting. I feel a variety of emotions...very excited, overwhelmed, shocked, scared, sad, numb, anxious.....

We sat through the game. The rain began to pour, but we escaped to a parent's tent. The game was finally called 10 minutes before its end due to lightning. Although I didn't get to talk to my kids, they saw me, and that's all that counts. They knew I was there for them!

When I got home, I had a message waiting for me from a friend that I met on the Internet who is in India. He is also a believer, and although he has no idea  about this application, his message read,

"our GOD is YHVH yireh...!!
the GOD Who Shall appear.. (in our needs) our True Provider..
hold on to HIM..
keep the Faith & Speak the Truth.. always...
even it leads to ur death...

HE will keep u safe & sound. am very much sure abt it..

Wow! I am awed by this message. God speaks through anyone that will allow Him to so.  I hope that you will surrender to His will to do whatever He'd have YOU do for HIm.

Please pray His perfect will in OUR lives and that we'll know without a doubt what He would have US do!

My Aunt & Uncle's House

My cousin sent me several pictures of my family's house in Texas. The outdoor pictures show damage, but nothing like this shot.The surge of the Gulf destroyed everything, as you can see.  Please pray for them and God's provision in their lives.

My Aunt & Uncle's House

My aunt and uncle live on the Galveston Bay in Kemah, TX, on the Boardwalk. During Hurricane Ike, they stayed at her daughter's house, so they are doing well. However, their house was flooded by the surge of water. They have lived there over 30 years. Please pray for God's provision and peace on their lives.

I pray that their displacement brings about what God has planned for them for His purpose in their lives. We had a guess speaker Sunday night that spoke about. It definitely made me think.

Yes, It Really is a Post from Me...

Shamefully, I had to pull up our site to see the last time that I attempted a post onto this blog. Things have tended to become even busier. Sk. attended two evenings of soccer practice and one evening of piano this past week. I had to go to Mobile on Mon. for a much-needed annual exam. Fri. night, I had to take Sy. to the doctor because she was running a high fever. 

Let's catch up.  Events that stand out....my students asked me to to to their pee wee football game Sat. before last.  This is the first time that I have ever attended by students' request. There is a going joke that I have a favorite student this year, and I have taken on the "statement" willingly. It was through his giving me a copy of their schedule that I accepted the invitation. Ms. J. and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing several of our students and last year's students play the game. I think that the students enjoyed our being there and giving them the extra attention. We took lots of photos of them in their uniforms.

For those of you who are waiting to hear about our status with the "M" company, we should hear if we will be interviewed with them within the next week or two.Pray God's will and direction in our lives.

Last night, we attended our "M" celebration with other team members from our past journeys. Since Sy. was still feeling under the weather, the kids stayed with Granny and Papa. I had a slide show display from my last journey to the Pac. Rim.  It was great to talk with our Brasilian team members, since it has been a while since we have chatted.

The weekend is over. I look forward to seeing my students.
